The problem

In the summer months, the standing water tends to silt uThroughout the construction period, safety was the utmost importance for the client of local authority in eastern Germany to ensure that no accidents occurred at any time. Any failures or malfunctions could have caused considerable damage and costs. All pumps needed to run at maximum capacity at all times, in order to pump out the total volume of approx. 1200 m³/h via the 450 m long pipe system.p towards "environmental collapse" because a natural inflow or outflow does not exist.

The solution

The Tsurumi Connect monitoring system was therefore selected. The comprehensive project planning and the safety concept were carefully planned and implemented by Steinke Anlagentechnik. The alarm for warning level 1 and warning level 2 were released via float type level sensors. This innovative solution enables real-time monitoring of all active pump data and displays it in the Cloud, therefore the data can be viewed from anywhere. The real-time display of pump data was of great benefit to the municipality. The ability to recognise dangers at an early stage means that measures can be taken within a very short time to solve potential problems. This successful collaboration emphasises the importance of high-quality products and services in tackling challenging tasks in the field of wastewater disposal and management.

In the event of abrasive and corrosive utilization, stronger wear and tear will take place naturally in certain components. With regards to the above application wear and tear can take place mainly in impeller, agitator, suction plate, shaft sleeve, oil ring, mechanical seal, pump casing, strainer, motor casing and discharge coupling. Depending on the working conditions the lifetime of those parts might vary significantly and can be shorter than the legal warranty period.
