Switching off the pumps due to an increased lime content in the groundwater.Early detection of pump maintenance was necessary in order to monitor the condition at all time which could avoid the pump failure and downtime of the project.
At a construction site with groundwater inflow, this water is usually pumped out. An increased lime content in the water could cause the pumps to switch off prematurely. Depending on the limescale content, a construction water pump can become clogged with limescale within just a few weeks, even causing the pumps to fail.
Thanks to the visualisation and recording of the power consumption of the pumps during the construction work on the future Stuttgart through station, a trend could be identified as to when the pumps would switch off. This made it possible to replace the pumps at an early stage and prevent pump failures. As far as the groundwater was concerned, this ensured a trouble-free construction process. The introduction of the Tsurumi Connect monitoring system was an important step towards increasing efficiency and saving costs on the construction site.
Early problem detection and rectification of this kind optimises the use of resources and has a positive effect on construction progress.
